SIMPLE REMEDIES TO CAST AWAY THE EVIL EFFECTS OF NINE PLANETS

Every human being on the planet earth has to undergo the influence (good or bad) of nine planets- Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu & Ketu in his life time. While the auspicious planets change the life for good, the inauspicious planets can bring disaster and make the life hell. The inauspiciousness of the planets can be removed by applying some remedial measures. Lal Kitab’s suggestions in this regard are quite effective. However, one of the most prevalent methods of this system is TOTKA. Lal Kitab says if these TOTKAS are performed during the period (from sunrise to sunset) work wonderfully well.

Lets know how the inauspiciousness of the planets can effect one’s life and what measures should one take in order to cool down their negative effects.

SUN:

Problem: The body parts become stiff and the person feels difficulty in the movement. Mouth is always full with the saliva. If there is red or brown cow in the house, that is either lost or passes away.

Remedies: Eat some sweets, and drink some water before going out and commencement of any auspicious work. If there is always tension in the house and people fight with each other and use abusive language, then put off the fire by sprinkling of milk over it in the night time. Donation of jaggery, copper, and wheat is very helpful. One must immerse the copper coin in the flowing water of a river or a pond. Read the sacred Purana- Harivanshpuran.

Moon

Problem: The water resources in the house have one or the other problem, well or pond is there in the house become dry. The pet cow or horse in the house either suffers or passes away.

Remedies: 
1-Silver should be immersed in the flowing water.
2- A pot full of milk or water should be kept near the bed (head side) while sleeping and the next day morning throw this water or milk into the roots of the kikar tree.
3- Always keep silver, rice and water with you.
4- Those that have malefic Moon should not drink milk in the night rather donate milk in the Bhiaro temple.

Mars

Problem: Due to the bad effects of Mars one is devoid of the bliss of parenthood. No matter he is full of energy. If one has child, he or she may suffer due to some diseases and will not survive. One may suffer with the joint pain. There will be deficiency of blood in the body and there will always be an atmosphere of argument, conflict among the family members.

Remedies
1- One must feed the dogs with sweet tandoori roti.
2- Donate rebri(sweet made of sesame and jaggery) red masoor dal and mrigchal in the temple.
3- Recite Hanuman Chalisa everyday.
4- Distribute Prasad in Hanuman temple on every Tuesday .
5- Apply white surma (Kajal) in the eyes.

Mercury

Problem: If Mercury is weak in the horoscope one’s front three teeth break and the person feels weak and unable to perform sex.

Remedies
1-Teeth should be cleaned with alum everyday.
2- Pierce the nose.
3- Burn the Kodies and immerse the ash in the flowing water of the river on the same day.
4- Wear emerald ring in the little finger.
5- A copper coin with a hole in the centre should be immersed in the flowing water .
6- Feed the small girls and worship them like we do pooja for Goddess Durga.
7- Donate in the religious institution for the auspicious work, like for construction of the temple or some other charity work.
8- Feed the cows with green fodder.
9- Donate whole green moong dal to the needy.

Jupiter

Problem: The person looses his hair in the backside of the head or there may be complete baldness. One’s education may be affected and there will be a break in his career. One may loose gold and devoid of progeny.

Remedies
1-One must look after a Peepal tree and water it everyday.
2- Saffron(Kesar) turmeric, gram dal , gold and any yellow item should be donated in the temple.
3- One must apply tilak of kesar, yellow chandan on forehead, tongue,and naval.
4- One must do pooja for Brahmaji.
5- Read the sacred Purana- Harivansha Purana.
6- Gram dal should be given to the cows to eat.
7- Clean the nose before start of any work.
8- If the person is devoid of son one must meditate and worship Lord Vishnu with full devotion.

Venus

Problem: The planet of happiness, conjugal happiness if is not in god condition, the person becomes sexually weak, one may suffer from skin disease, night fall and even the thumb becomes weak and lifeless.

Remedies
1-Donate cows.
2- Before taking food keep some food for the cows or donate fodder for the cows.
3- Ghee, camphor, curd, and white pearl should be donated in the temple.
4- One must touch the feet of widows and take their blessings, donation of sweets to them is also helpful.
5- Apply curd on the full body before bath.
6- Always wear neat and clean cloths.
7- Wear diamond ring in next to little finger.

Saturn

Problem: The person suffers from hair loss in the eyelids and eyebrows.If Saturn is inauspicious the person’s buffalo dies, he always has the fear of fire and his house is either damaged or unexpectedly collapse.

Remedies
1- Donate iron.
2- Must do daatun with kikar wood
3- Donate mustard oil
4- Donate Indian soap to the poor.
5- Must feed the fishes with sweet wheat balls.
6- Feed crows.
7- Do not consume meat and drink(tamsik food).
8- Serve the monkeys( for wealth).
9- With bare foot go to shani temple on Saturday and ask his pardon for the wrong deeds.
10- Worship Lord Shiva (Abhishek Shivlinga)
11- Donate eye medicine , it helps to remove the eye diseases.
12- Serve the snakes, it helps to bless the person with progeny.
13- Immersed coconut in flowing water.
14- Serve black dog.
15- Always keep entrance of the house neat and clean.
16- Worship lord Shiva, Maa Kali or Goddess Durga, and Bhairon Baba.

Remember Shanidev is the planet of poor and old people, so by serving these people one can mellow down the evil effects caused by him and can take his blessings.

Rahu

Problem: Rahu’s negative effects are-If there is black dog in the family it dies. Hands nails start falling. The mind stops working and always in tension. There is Absentmindedness and craziness. Enemies increase.

Remedies
1- Immersed the coconut in the flowing water.
2- Wash the barley with milk and immersed them in the flowing water.
3- If suffering with tuberculosis, wash the barley with cow urine, keep this in a small container and always keep it with you.
4- Immersed coal in the flowing water.
5- Must donate to the scavengers and have kind attitude towards them.
6- Have a plait on the head; try to live in joint family and to have good relationship with them.
7- Must worship goddess Sarswati.
8- Help the poor in their daughter’s marriage.
9- A square piece of silver should be put in Gangajal in a container, have a watch ,this container should always be full with water.

Ketu

Problem: In case of Ketu’s inauspiciousness the nail in the toe starts falling. Children remain sick and the person feels pain while passing the urine. The joint pain also troubles. Accidents and injuries take place.

Remedies
1- Pet a dog, and feed the dogs regularly.
2- Pierce the ears.
3- If the person has urine problem, wear the silver ring in silk thread into the neck.
4- If son is disobedient and misbehaves with you, black blankets should be donated to the needy persons.

VISIONS OF LIGHT IN MEDITATION

Various kinds of lights manifest during meditation owing to concentration. In the beginning, a bright, white light, the size of a pin's point will appear in the forehead in Trikuti which corresponds tentatively to the Ajna Chakra of the astral body. When the eyes are closed, you will notice different colored lights such as white, yellow, red, smoky, blue, green, mixed color, flashes like lightning, like fire, burning charcoal, fire-flies, the moon, the sun and stars. These lights appear in the mental space, Chidakasha. These are all Tanmatric lights.

Each Tanmatra has its own specific color. Prithvi (earth) Tanmatra has a yellow light; Apas (water) Tanmatra has a white light; Agni (fire) Tanmatra has a red light; Vayu (air) Tanmatra has a smoky light; and Akasha (ether) Tanmatra has a blue light. Yellow and white lights are very commonly seen. Red and blue lights are rarely noticeable. Frequently there is a combination of white and yellow lights. In the beginning, small balls of white light float about before your eyes. When you first observe this, be assured that the mind is be coming more steady and that you are progressing in concentration. After some months the size of the light will increase and you will see a full blaze of white light, bigger than the sun.

In the beginning these lights are not steady. They come and disappear immediately. They flash out from above the forehead and from the sides. They cause peculiar sensations of extreme joy and happiness and there is an intense desire for a vision of these lights. When you have steady and systematic practice for two or three hours of meditation at a stretch, these lights appear more frequently and remain steadily for a long time. The vision of the lights is a great encouragement in sadhana. It impels you to stick steadily to meditation. It gives you strong faith in superphysical matters. The appearance of the light denotes that you are transcending the physical consciousness. You are in a semiconscious state when the light appears. You are between the two planes. You must not shake the body when these lights manifest. You must be perfectly steady in the Asana. You must breathe very, very slowly.

One whose food is moderate, whose anger has been controlled, who has given up all love for society, who has subdued his passions, who has overcome all pairs of opposites (Dvandvas) and who has given up his egoism, gets a vision of a triangular light during meditation.

Sometimes during meditation you will see a brilliant dazzling light. You will find it difficult to gaze at this light. You will be compelled to withdraw your mental vision of this light. This dazzling light is the light emanating from the Sushumna.

You will see forms in the lights - either the lustrous forms of demigods (Devatas) or physical forms. You will se your Ishta Devata or chosen deity in handsome dress with four hands and weapons. Siddhas, Rishis and other Devatas appear before you to encourage you. You will find a huge collection of Devatas and celestial ladies (Apsaras) with various musical instruments in their hands. You will also see beautiful flower gardens, fine palatial buildings, rivers, mountains, golden temples, sceneries so lovely and picturesque as cannot be adequately described.

The experiences vary with different individuals. What one man experiences, may not be experienced by another man. Many erroneously believe that they have realized the self when they get these experiences, stop their Sadhana and try to move in the society to preach a new cult and religion in the name of Loka-sangraha. This is a serious blunder. This is not realization at all. These are simple encouragements from your Ishta Devata to convince you of a higher spiritual life and push you on in your steady, systematic and incessant practice of meditation with zeal and enthusiasm. You will have to ignore these things and drive them away. You must not care a bit for the vision of lights. You must fix your attention on the Lakshya, the goal, viz., Brahman. These visions appear in some persons within a few days, while in others within six or nine months. It depends upon the state of the mind and degree of concentration.

HEALTH TIP : AIR - LIFE'S BEGINNING AND ENDING

This month we will discuss another most important factor that a human needs to survive and maintain a healthy life.  Breathing pure unpolluted AIR .

 

Our human body is a breathing machine that must have air constantly or it will perish. The life that goes into every cell in our bodies depends on Oxygen and therefore AIR. In order to keep our bodies cleaner and healthier we should get more oxygen into our lungs. 

 

Our planet earth’s atmosphere that extends 70 miles above us provides the vital air component Oxygen and we all are living at the bottom of this Ocean of Oxygen. Breathing cleaner Air (both indoor and outdoor) is a absolute necessity these days than ever before since most of us spend more time indoor than outdoors. Studies have shown that the air in our homes can be even more polluted than the outdoor air. In fact indoor air pollution represents a major portion of the public’s exposure to air pollution.

 

The U.S  Environment Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that indoor air pollutant (IAP) levels may be two to five times as high as the pollutant levels outdoors. Indoor air pollution can include vapors from household products, carbon monoxide and radon, building materials, tobacco smoke, cooking odors, various biological pollutants like viruses, bacteria, fungi, molds, and dust mites. In higher concentrations these ordinary house hold matters can be very harmful to human health. Especially the very young and old and those with asthma and respiratory illness. Even day to day activities such as cooking with gas, vacuuming, and using spray cleansers, disinfectants, repellents generate additional pollutants. 

 

Most of the time, we end up living in conditioned indoor air, in which the same air is circulated repeatedly. Ensuring proper ventilation is a good start in cleaning the indoor air. For best results, the air in our homes must be continuously exchanged with fresh outdoor air. If you are not able to open the windows because of traffic noise or because your Heating system/Air-conditioning system is running, use ceiling or outdoor vented exhaust fans to improve the exchange of fresh air. 

 

Indoor air with house hold dust contains an array of pollutants that include viruses (that cause seasonal cold/flu) bacteria (that cause ear/throat infections) molds, mildew, pet dander and dust mites (that cause allergies, asthma and eczema). 

 

The most effective ways for improving air-quality in your home are to control the sources of specific pollutants and to ensure adequate ventilation whenever possible. Additionally using Air cleaners/Air filters is the best secondary option that is available for removing trouble causing contaminants. When buying a air filter, look for the Clean Air Delivery rate (CADR) certification seal on the product packaging. The higher the CADR number, the faster and better the unit filters or cleans the air. HEPA air purifier systems for individual rooms is another good option that is available these days. 

 

Radon? It is a radioactive gas that results from the natural decay of Uranium and is found in nearly all soils. It usually enters a home through the ground cracks in the foundation, floor, walls or around service pipes. Radon is a second leading cause of Lung cancer after cigarette smoke. “Radon testing” can be done with the help of a certified contractor.

 

Carbon monoxide! It is another silent killer! This toxic gas, that doesn’t have smell, color or taste, is produced by “burning fuel“. Room heaters, furnaces, fire places, gas ovens and ranges and water heaters are some potential sources of carbon monoxide. Hence, it is very important to keep these appliances in good working conditions by proper usage and maintenance. A carbon monoxide detector can be used to detect abnormal levels of this toxic gas.

 

In addition to keeping these pollutants under control, it is also important to monitor and control the humidity level in our houses. High humidity and damp surfaces aid in the growth of molds ( a common allergen) . Try to keep the relative humidity under 60 percent, and ideally between 30 and 50 percent. The best way to control humidity is by proper ventilation and use of dehumidifier. 

 

During colder seasons, the heated air that is too dry can be very uncomfortable and aggravate respiratory and skin problems. Humidifiers can be used to get rid of this problem. But care should be taken to refill the tank with pure water daily and the humidifiers must be cleaned atleast once a week during regular use.

Ventilate your home by opening the windows and doors regularly.

 

Use outdoor vented exhaust fans while cooking, washing, cleaning and bathing.

 

Change filters on furnace, A/C, air purifiers and vacuum cleaners regularly.

It is commonly know that in any horoscope or birth chart, the 7th house rules the marriage, love affairs and the married life. However, the Western system hardly knows that in male horoscopes, the Navamsha chart, and in female horoscopes, the Trinshamsha chart play most important part in the matter of marriage and married life. The another important factor is the Karaka planet ruling the aspect of marriage and spouse. It we have the degrees of all the first seven planets before us at the time of birth of an individual, the planet with the least or smallest degrees (Rashi to be ignored) will be the planet ruling the aspect of marriage and spouse.

8*th house of the Atharva Vedic Graha Chart in the female’s horoscopes:

Sun in the 8th house may cause widowhood or severe calamity to the husband whereby the native will be drowned in sorrow. Moon in the 8th house may make one cruel, ugly, ill-dressed, angry and even aggrieved and if the Moon is weak, he may make her a widow or cause severe adversity to the husband and even otherwise she may not have conjugal happiness. Mars in the 8th house indicates that the native might be a prostitute and if such Mars is in conjunction with a malefic, the native will have no husband or she will become a widow or reject her husband and accept a paramour. If Mars in the 8th house in the horoscope of a male is likely to cause his own death. Mars in the 8th in the natal chart of a female will cause her husband’s death. Thus there is Kuja dosha in both cases. Mercury in the 8th house may make the native commit sinful acts, be cruel and unrighteous and she may become a widow or be a grief stricken on account of severe mishap to the husband if Mercury gets afflicted. Jupiter in the 8th house denotes loss of children.

4) A neecha planet exalted in the Navamsa.

5) A debilitated planet being aspected by another debilitated planet.

6) Lord of the Navamsa occupied by a debilitated planet in a Kendra (angle) or trikona (trine); the ascendant being a movable sign or the lord of the ascendant is in a movable Navamsa.

7) Lord of the Rasi where a planet is debilitated is in a trine from the Lagna or the Moon.

8) The planet that gets exalted in the sign where the planet is debilitated is in a trine to the lord of the exaltation sign of the debilitated planet. III

9) The lords of the debilitation and exaltation signs are in mutual kendras (angles).

10) A debilitated planet, aspected by the lord of the sign, situated in an auspicious house.

11) Lord of the Rasi in which a planet is debilitated or the lord of the planets exaltation sign, or the planet who gets exalted there is in a trine from the Lagna or the Moon.

If it aspects a planet that might be the cause of ailments one becomes free of the diseases. 

The Guru of demons or passions i.e. Venus forms the background for development of Samskars. He makes an individual indulge in pleasures and thus keeps the world moving in a vicious cycle. Mercury encourages these tendencies of Venus. Mars along with Venus makes a person indulge in sins. Under the influence of Venus even Saturn forgets its duty to punish a person for his sins. One gains wealth and prosperity as a result of the good deeds of the past birth and this effect is manifested by Jupiter. And it is Venus that induces a person to spend his money for pleasure. Due to the knowledge bestowed by Jupiter one develops a good memory of science and also the power of eloquence.

Eloquence is ruled by the planet mercury. Thus eloquence, mercury and Jupiter are related. It is in fact stated in the texts that mercury is the illegitimate son of Jupiter. This is why Mercury feels inimical towards Jupiter. But he is friendly towards Venus. Mercury was born when the moon copulated with the wife of Jupiter. If mercury is in the ninth house, in Sagittarius or with Jupiter in the horoscope one becomes indebted towards one’s parents. A wise person has control over his tongue and he is able to ward off the influence of Venus. But Maya (delusion) represented by Moon makes the mind, represented by Mercury, pervert. This is why evil continues to exist in the world.

If Saturn had not been so easily swayed by Venus then it would have destroyed all evil and made every person a Sanyasi. Even Lord Shiva was compelled by the pleadings of Rati to revive Kaamdev after he had turned him to ashes by the fierce power of his Third Eye. The link between knowledge (Jupiter),Maya (Moon) and pleasures (Venus) is Mercury. The universe has been created by limiting (effect of mercury) the infinite represented by Jupiter.

 Jupiter takes care of one’s physique according to one’s past good deeds and the control one has over one’s tongue. But Mercury if situated in the ninth, in Sagittarius or with Karma 30Jupiter creates the problem of Pitra Rinn (indebtedness to the parents). If such a combination is present in the horoscope then the course of life of a person is not determined by the ordinary rules of Astrology.

Determining the Pitra Rinn and paying it off is the only way through which such a person can be free from his problems in life.Jupiter is the significator of the sky element and of diseases like obesity, ailments of the stomach, cough etc. If situated in the sixth house Jupiter makes one suffer from eye problems. Venus represents wealth and Jupiter represents knowledge. It is stated in the ancient text Vishnnu Bhrigu that where there is Lakshmi, there will not be knowledge and where there is knowledge there will not be wealth.

This is what happens normally in the world. Hence when Venus is in the ninth, in Sagittarius or with Jupiter then too one is burdened by Pitra Rinn. The individual has to suffer the consequences of the sins of his ancestors. The rules of Karma state that a person has not only to experience the effect of deeds of past lives rather he also has to experience effect of the deeds of his ancestors. In the twelfth house Venus is very auspicious and if situated in the twelfth sign Pisces then the individual indulges a lot in pleasures.

If Jupiter too is in this house or with the Lord of the twelfth house then one suffers from severe constipation. Association with Saturn worsens the situation. Jupiter creates trouble for the house in which it is situated. For example, if situated in ascendant Aries the individual suffers from problems in the feet specially if Mars is in the twelfth house or Pisces.

If Jupiter is aspected by Saturn or Jupiter and Saturn are together in the ascendent then the individual suffers from frequent wounds in the feet and there might even be loss of the lower limbs.Jupiter in the ascendent in Aries also makes the digestion weak. If Jupiter is in ascendent in Taurus or Leo and Mercury is in fifth house then the individual suffers from skin problems. Similarly if Jupiter is in ascendent in Taurus or Leo and Mercury is in 3rd, 6th, 8th or 12th house aspected or with malefic planets like Saturn, Rahu or Ketu then too one suffers from skin diseases.

Sex power is weakened if Jupiter is in Capricorn or Aquarius in the ascendent. If Jupiter is in Aquarius then one suffers from child related problems. Jupiter in Capricorn in the twelfth brings constipation. Jupiter in Gemini in ascendent makes one suffer in childhood.

If the ascendent is Virgo or Libra and Jupiter is posited there then the individual is cunning. The family of the individual has to suffer a lot. If Jupiter is situated in ascendent and Sun, Mars aspect it then one suffers from blood disorders. If Jupiter, Sun and Ketu are together in any house except the fifth one suffers from blood disorders and digestion problems. If Guru and Rahu are together in the ascendent or the Lord of ascendent is in eighth house then one suffers from Hydrocele. If Jupiter, Sun or Ketu are together then one suffers from Thyroid problem. If Jupiter is in ascendent and Mars in the seventh house then one suffers from madness. If Jupiter, Venus and Mars are together then the Pancreas gland is affected.

If Jupiter is in the second house and aspected by Mercury then the individual loses all his wealth in getting medical treatment. Those born in Aries or Virgo ascendent generally have this experience. If Jupiter is in second house in Libra the person becomes immoral. One also has no happiness from children and one is not married to the right person. If Jupiter is in Virgo in the second house one becomes poor. If Rahu has any influence over this Jupiter one suffers from stomach related problems. If Jupiter is in second house in Leo then too one suffers from this problem.

 If Jupiter is in second house in Scorpio and Mars and Rahu are in eighth house then one suffers from ailments of the anus. Jupiter is auspicious if situated in Sagittarius. But if this Jupiter is in second house then one suffers from digestive problems. But if Jupiter is in Capricorn in the second house then one is long lived. In the second house Jupiter in Aquarius makes one suffer from anal diseases. The problem is aggravated if Rahu, Mars and Saturn influence Scorpio or the eighth house.

In the third house Jupiter makes that house the cause of a person’s death. Such an individual could earn wealth by illegal means or violence. But if aspected by Mercury one becomes poor. If Jupiter in the third is with Saturn or Mars one has to even go to jail. If Jupiter is in third house in Libra one suffers from back problems. Also if Sun and Mars aspect the seventh house then one suffers from kidney problems and pain in back.

In the third house Jupiter in Virgo curtails one’s life. If Saturn aspects Jupiter in third or fourth house one has extra marital relations. A strong Jupiter in the third makes one immoral. On the other hand Jupiter in an inimical sign in the third makes one moral. If Jupiter in the fourth is influenced by Saturn then one suffers from various physical ailments.

If Jupiter is in the sixth and influenced by Mars one suffers from kidney problems. In this house Jupiter in Scorpio makes one wounded by enemies. In the sixth in Cancer Jupiter makes one suffer from back problems. In Gemini in the sixth house Jupiter makes one never suffer from eye problems. But one is ever in danger of attacks from enemies.

If Jupiter is in Leo in sixth one’s death might be caused by enemies. The situation becomes grave if there is influence of Rahu, Mars and Saturn. One then also has to suffer from fear of poison and snakes. If Saturn aspects such a Jupiter one’s death could be caused by drinking poison or snake bite. In this house the same effect is caused by Jupiter in Capricorn. In the sixth house Jupiter in Aquarius causes sexually transmitted diseases.

If Jupiter is in seventh in Scorpio or Capricorn then one suffers from cancer, piles, sores etc. If this combination is in Aries then one has to suffer from fear from the state side. One also gains a tendency to steal and defraud others. If Jupiter is in seventh in Taurus or Libra one spends a lot on prostitutes. But if Jupiter is in signs of Mercury one is very moral. If Jupiter is in Gemini then one becomes uninterested in the world and a Sanyaasi. If Saturn and moon are together in any house then this tendency becomes even stronger.

If Jupiter is in eighth then the diseases caused by Jupiter leads one to death. One can die due to problems of nerve failure, pain, ears, murder, diarrhoea, blood disorders, accidents, state punishment or overeating depending on the sign that is in the eighth house.

if Jupiter is in ninth house one earns through one’s own efforts. Such a individual is a self made man. There are problems in life which leave scars on the body. Jupiter in the tenth makes one immoral.

Jupiter in eleventh removes problems of life. In this house almost all planets give good results. But if this house is influenced by malefic planets then many problems could be created.One could commit suicide if Jupiter is in twelfth house in Aries or Jupiter conjoins Mars in twelfth house. This combination could also lead to poisoning and pain in the body. If Jupiter is in Scorpio in this house one is adopted and one has to leave one’s home.

Jupiter helps one get the good results of good deeds of past lives. Of course the effect of bad deeds also manifest. Venus induces passions and makes the good effects of past deeds weak. It makes one move towards evil. Good deeds in past lives lead to pleasures. And too many pleasures could lead to ailments

Use of Yogini Dashaa



By far the most popular dasha system in Vedic astrology is the Vimshottari dasha system. And it should be. Sage Parashara says in the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra:

"Dashas are of many kinds. Amongst them Vimshottari is the most appropriate for the general populace." - ch. 46 v. 2-5 




As accurate as the Vimshottari dasha is, it still can't give the entire picture of the results of a given time period. Why else would there be dozens of other dasha systems available that astrologers can use? Many of these other dasha systems are conditional dashas, meaning that they are only applicable if certain planetary combinations exist in the chart. Of the general, unconditional dashas like Vimshottari dasha, Yogini dasha is probably the next best to use. 


Ideally, an astrologer should use at least two dashas, but three or four is even better. Yogini is a great dasha to add, but the main problem with it is that its cycle is only 36 years long. Consequently, most people will experience two or perhaps three cycles of Yogini dasha in a lifetime. It's because of this that many astrologers in India have dismissed its relevance entirely. How can you interpret the same cycle that a person had 36 years prior in a different, relevant way? However, in some Himalayan regions of India, like Garwhal, Yogini dasha has been heavily emphasized for centuries. What is their secret? 


What does a progressed lagna mean? In this context it means that the chart is read from an alternate lagna (ascendant) for the duration of the Yogini dasha. This lagna gets progressed, or moves forward, with each change of the dasha lord. 



I have had no prejudice against Yogini dasha unlike some well-known astrologers of India who reject it because it has a very short cycle of 36 years only. The ticklish question was how to apply this dasha in the cases of those who had crossed the age of 36 and were less than 72 years when two cycles of Yogini dasha would be over. The more ticklish problem was how to use this for persons above the age of 72 years when the third cycle of Yogini dasha would be in operation. 




For many decades we have been doing research (at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute in New Delhi) in the use of different dashas given in Parashari and Jaimini texts. While now some of the Jaimini dashas have come into effective use, the nakshatra dashas of Parashara needed extensive and original research to discover effective predictive tools. 

A controversy arose in the case of Yogini dasha mainly because of its shortness, being a dasha with only a 36 year cycle. Life is not a story of exact replication of events of the first 36 years in the next 36 years. How is the riddle to be unraveled? 

1. Yogini dasha will have to be progressed and the starting point for each cycle will have to be different to avoid mechanical repetition of the readings for the first cycle. It was logical and he demonstrated with some horoscopes both in the classroom and at my place.

2. The one major problem in Yogini dasha is that with only eight Yogini it can only cover twenty four nakshatras out of twenty seven, leaving out three or necessitating the clubbing of the three with other nakshatras to make it all a harmonious scheme. Mr. Goel solved this problem by taking up the first three nakshatras, Ashwini, Bharani, and Krittika and clubbing them with Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada, and then Revati. 

I am happy that with this book the riddle of Yogini dasha is solved very satisfactorily and there can be improvements on this research which is a major breakthrough. It is necessary to state so here because the late Hardeo Sharma Trivedi never used Yogini dasha because he thought that the second and third cycles of this dasha would lead to a mechanical interpretation. But I know of many Garhwali astrologers who use Yogini dasha invariably and prefer it to any other dasha for their major predictions. I also know that they have some secret technique of progressing it, which they have not revealed. This is similar to what is known as the Paramayu dasha of Kumaon (Nainital and Almora areas) which is used only to calculate the span of life. The Paramayu dasha works well, resembles Vimshottari dasha, but its calculation remains a secret even now. 

If one riddle of Yogini dasha is solved, as has happened in this research, we can proceed confidently to its multifarious uses and applications in many aspects of life.

The trick is what nakshatra to progress to after Revati, the last nakshatra of the zodiac. It's linked with Ulka (Saturn) and in the Yogini dasha sequence Siddha (Venus) follows Ulka (Saturn). But the next nakshatra after Revati, is Ashwini, which is linked to Bhramari (Mars). This is a problem that V.P. Goel solved by combining or clubbing together the last three nakshatras, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revati, with the first three nakshatras, Ashwini, Bharani, and Krittika. Then the progression after Revati jumps to Rohini, and the Yogini dasha sequence remains harmonious with Siddha (Venus) following Ulka (Saturn).
